Adidas 3D Printed Running Shoes Coming Soon

When the demand meets with the high tech possibility the Adidas Futurecraft 3D is born.

A leading sport footwear Company, Adidas, is developing running shoes of the new generation. The accent is put on the production of 3D-printed midsole made on the base of flexible and breathable carbon copy of the athlete’s footprint. Footscan technology helps to provide an excellent fitting and matching precise contours and pressure points of the future trainers.

“Futurecraft 3D is a prototype and a statement of intent. We have used a one-of-its-kind combination of process and material in an entirely new way. Our 3D-printed midsole not only allows us to make a great running shoe, but also to use performance data to drive truly bespoke experiences, meeting the needs of any athlete,” said Eric Liedtke, Executive Board Member of Adidas AG.

Adidas Futurecraft 3D together with Materialise worked out a lightweight and flexible structure to print an ideal midsole. After that the midsole was sintered by laser in TPU. Here it is! The first fully-flexible 3D printing midsole is ready for consumers.

Actually, the Adidas rival, Nike, also has implemented 3D printed elements in its football cleats. But they did it only for professional sportsmen. While Adidas 3D printed running shoes pretend to be for the wide consumer range in the future.

So, we long to see and touch “the first bird” of Adidas Futurecraft 3D. And we hope that thanks to comfortable 3D running shoes jogging will be a pleasure not only for sport fans but for lazy- bones as well.
